Bible study for Sunday 14th March

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. The Israelites’ sin resulted in venomous snakes and Paul says that the “wages of sin is death.” Does knowing that people can be ‘physically’ alive but ‘spiritually’ dead change how you relate to them? Should it?

  1. The Israelites realised they needed a mediator (Moses) because they could not save themselves. In what ways do we need a mediator (Jesus) to save us from our sins?

  1. Just as God gave the Israelites a solution to deal with their sin (the snake on the pole) he gives us a solution to deal with our sin (Jesus on the cross). What does this solution mean to you?

  1. In John 3:14 Jesus combines the story of Moses and the bronze snake with himself to prepare his disciples for his upcoming crucifixion. How does this story prepare you, during this lent period, for the death and resurrection of Jesus?

  1. What is one thing you can do differently (or improve on) this week based on the stories we have focussed on?
