EVERYTHING SHE HAD
25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
38 Jesus also taught: “Beware of these teachers of religious law! For they
Like to parade around in flowing robes and receive respectful greetings as
they walk in the marketplaces. 39 And how they love the seats of honour in
the synagogues and the head table at banquets. 40 Yet they shamelessly
cheat widows out of their property and then pretend to be pious by making

The Widow’s Offering
41 Jesus sat down near the collection box in the Temple and watched as the
Crowds dropped in their money. Many rich people put in large
amounts. 42 Then a poor widow came and dropped in two small coins.
43 Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I tell you the truth, this poor
widow has given more than all the others who are making
contributions. 44 For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as

Colossians 3: 1-4
Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. 2 Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. 3 For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory..
2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
- How do you see yourself? How do you see the people around you? How do you see the people in your community?
- What do you think Jesus saw when he watched the Scribes and Pharisees and the widow in the Temple?
- Do you believe that God sees you? That God cares? What does your answer mean for you in the way you live your life and how you express your faith?
- What might need to change in your life, and in the life of your church, to enable you to live and worship “with your whole life” for God?
God be with you in the week ahead,
