LOVE NEVER ENDS – BEING THE BODY OF CHRIST
A VARIETY OF GIFTS
For those Connect Groups with members who have been Christian for a long time and have therefore already been exposed to teachings on Spiritual Gifts and discovered theirs, the below bible study could be beneficial. However, for those Connect Groups with members that have never encountered this teaching before, it might be helpful to rather look at what each individual Spiritual Gift is, what it means to use that gift, and to help those members (through guidance by the Holy Spirit) discover what their Spiritual Gifts are.
What is an example of a time in your life when you have struggled with “Being different”?
What are some scriptures, or examples in the bible, that highlight how God values and loves diversity (being different)?
Read 1 Corinthians 12:1-11. What can this passage teach us about being different? (Also Read Ephesians 4:11-13; Romans 12:6-8)
Why does the Holy Spirit give us these Spiritual gifts? What are the consequences of us not using our spiritual gifts?
How might we over focus on our spiritual gifts such that practicing them is self-centered as opposed to being for the “common good” (v. 7)?
Take a moment for members of the connect group to tell of a time when they operated out of their giftedness and/or when they had to do something they were not gifted to do. Is it always wrong to do only what we’re gifted for?
What does Ephesians 4:3 and 1 Corinthians 1:10-11 teach us about unity? And why is unity important?
What is one way you can use your giftedness this week? Take time next week for members to report back on how they did this.
