Warm up Questions[i]

  • If you could choose your age forever, what age would you choose and why?

Discussion Questions (Approx. 30 min):

  • What were the main points of the sermon? Review them together.
  • What was the most important message for you? / What part of the message touched you at a personal level? Share this with the group. What will you do to make sure this message bears fruit in your life?
  • Questions related to 1 Corinthians 9.24-27:
    • What do you do in your life as a Christian that could be similar to the training that an athlete does?
    • Are there new things you would like to do?
    • And, or, is there a fresh sense of purpose to your life?
  • Questions related to Revelation 3.14-22:
    • Why is being lukewarm a problem?
    • How does financial sufficiency, or wealth, cause us to be blind to our poverty?
    • What can we do to ‘see’ our own state more clearly?
    • What would make you ‘hot’ for Jesus?

Faith Building:

  • Jesus is hope for the world. He lures us to himself all the time. Let us respond to that lure and be grateful for his work as a Good Shepherd. Let us follow more closely. Then others will see the positive difference Jesus makes. Let us use the influence we have to be agents of Jesus’ Kingdom today.

Group Prayer (10 minutes). Share prayer requests and respond appropriately.

Sending Prayer (2 min). End by praying the following or a similar prayer:

God of resurrection and new life, we give you praise for how you continue to live within us, by your Holy Spirit, and how you reshape us and empower us to be more than we can imagine. Give us the courage to trust that you can and will teach us to live each day according to your plan and purpose for us. May we walk both with humility and boldness in your Spirit this week. Amen.

Have a great week.

God bless,

Tim and John.
