TEMPTATIONS ANYONE?
Temptations anyone?
1. Why should we express our feelings to God?
2. What temptations have you struggled with, or do you struggle with? (This is a
moment for everyone in the group to support and love each other in our
personal struggles as we journey together to become more like Christ).
3. The Greek word for temptation (peirasmon) is predominantly understood in
the New Testament as a “trial” or “suffering”. How does this understanding
shape the way we interpret and apply the prayer “lead us not into temptation”?
4. What does James 1:13-15 teach us about the nature of temptation?
5. Reflect on Jesus words to his disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane
(Mat.26:41) and his own prayer to the Father (Mat.26:39). What does “the
spirit is willing, but the body is weak” mean in this context? How does it apply
to the Lord’s prayer?
6. Read 1 Corinthians 10:13. What is this verse saying, and what is it not
saying? (Hint. Can we use this verse to apply to any situation, or only with
regards to our temptations?).
7. Some translations say, “deliver us from evil” others say, “deliver us from the
evil one”. How does this difference shape our prayer life? And how can we
handle this difference?
8. How do you intend to apply the teaching of Jesus in the Lord’s Prayer to your
own prayer life?
