JESUS’ ENTRY INTO JERUSALEM
-
Sunday’s “story” of Jesus entry into Jerusalem was drawn from all four gospels: Matthew 21:1-11; Mark 11:1-11; Luke 19:28-40; John 12:12-19) [NRSV]. This gave us a “four-sided” view of the event!
- Was hearing it this way strange, as the gospel writers have not all recorded the same facts?
- If only one reading was to be used, which one would we choose? [Consider, for example, verses pertaining to the animal(s) Jesus rode on in the four gospels. And who found / fetched it/them. Or what was placed on the ground in front of Jesus, or waved around.]
Reflection:
-
HEAD: What did we learn?
-
-
The story of the event that birthed Palm Sunday has been heard so many times. Surely, there was nothing new to learn in celebrating it this year.
-
-
HEART: Where did Holy Spirit nudge our heart (What did we sense, feel)?
-
HANDS: What do we / I need to do (or become)?
Other considerations:
Which verses stood out for you, and why, regarding:
-
Worship
-
Living a Christ-following life each day?
-
How easy it is to get caught up in a crowd -even with good Godly intentions or perceptions?
