Wisdom Week 6
Connecting with one another:
- Do you have a Good News story?
- What are some of your favourite ways to share Good News?
Growing with God’s Word:
- Wisdom as comfort, healing and hope!
Read Isaiah 61:1-3
- Who do you think this prophecy refers to?
- What has the person in the prophecy been sent to do as their “Calling” (anointing)? Make a list.
- Does this prophecy have any relevance with the anointing on the body of Christ today?
- Wisdom as Holy Spirit Celebration and Preparation!
Read Acts 2:1-4, 42-47
- What do you think this story is about?
- Does this reading have anything to do with the mission of the body of Christ today? If so, what might that mission be?
- What do you think verse 44 means (i.e. “had everything in common”)? Does this include sharing with people from other cultures too?
- Can you remember a time when you celebrated with someone who believed they had been called as a Pastor, or Missionary, or who had experienced a life changing moment in their faith?
- Wisdom is Discipleship and Sending!
Read Matthew 28:18-20
- What do you think of the command that Jesus gave in verse 19? Was that instruction only for the disciples in their time, or also for the body of Christ today?
- Why do you think that “making disciples” comes before the act of “baptizing” as Matthew has written in verse 19?
- Test “which spirit” is at work in the body of Christ!
Read Galatians 5: 22-26 and Ephesians 4: 1-13
- What are prime examples of how the “body of Christ” should be living according to the Holy Spirit (see Galatians 5: 22 ff.).
- What does Paul emphasize in Ephesians 4: 2-6? Make a short list.
- Would it be true to say that living a life that outside of the examples listed above, would mean you are living outside of the Spirit of God?
Focus for the week ahead:
Use this reading as a spiritual encouragement this week:
Romans 15:5-6
May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
God bless,
Tim.
