Wisdom Week 7
Connecting with one another:
- How would you like to be remembered when you have passed on?
Growing with God’s Word:
Wisdom as Power!
Read Acts 1:8.
- What is the “power” being referred to in verse 8?
- The second part of the verse identifies what the power it to be used for – how is it to be used?
Read Acts 2:1-4.
- The power of God “rested on each of them” and they began to speak in other languages! Why do you think the gift of power was given in this way to the followers? Who would benefit from this gift of power – the followers, or others?
- Is the Holy Spirit power being used in this way in your church? In your community?
- Is there a difference between the power of the Holy Spirit, compared to the power that world uses?
- How should the church be expressing God’s power in the world today?
- Is it true to say 21 st century Christianity focusses too much on individual salvation and individual gifts of the Spirit, as opposed to God working in and through and pouring his power out on a whole
community (see Acts 2:42 as an example). - Have you ever experienced an explosion of God’s power at work?
- Do you in your personal life, and/or your church, need an explosion of
God’s power today?
Focus for the week ahead:
Use this reading as a spiritual encouragement this week:
Proverbs 11:30
30 The fruit that godly people bear is like a tree of life. And those who are wise save lives.
God bless,
Tim.
