WORSHIP DAVID STYLE!
Please use the questions below as a guide for your personal devotions this week, and for your group meeting if you belong to one. You might not get through all the questions – that is Ok – but I pray that they will help you grow in your faith and in your understanding of the Bible.
If you would like me to visit your group, then please let me know – contact Lesley on 0445333430 or admin@plettmethodist.co.za to set up a visit. If you are not part of a group, and would like to join one, then contact Don on 0834129877 and don@prism-ic.co.za
Theme: Worship David Style!
Start
Do you love to dance? If so, what is your favourite music to dance to? If dancing is not for you – why not?
Do you have a favourite national monument, statue, or sculpture that you admire. When you think of it, what emotions connect you with that image? Why?
Getting into the Word
What are your initial reactions to verses 1–11? Why?
Look back at Exodus 25:10–22 to read God’s original instructions for the construction and transportation of the ark of the covenant. What emotions or reactions was the ark designed to evoke in those who saw it?
What instructions for handling the ark did David and his men violate in 2 Samuel 6?
Was David right to be fearful of God and the ark? Explain.
What strikes you as most interesting from verses 12–23? Why?
What can we learn about David’s character from those verses?
How do these verses illustrate what it means to worship God?
Focus for the week ahead:
Praising God and spending time in His presence does not have to be solemn or gloomy. Follow in David’s example by doing something you love to do—dancing, singing, running, drawing, and so on. As you engage that activity, allow your joy to overflow in praise and worship of God.
What is one step you can take to demonstrate humility this week?
God bless,
Tim.
