“Using your talents!”
THIS IS THE FINAL WEEK OF SMALL GROUP NOTES FOR 2024.
Please use the questions below as a guide for your devotions this week, and/or for your group meeting if you belong to a small group. You might not get through all the questions – that is Ok – but I pray that they will help you grow in your faith and in your understanding of the Bible.
If you would like me to visit your group, then please let me know – contact Lesley on 0445333430 or admin@plettmethodist.co.za to set up a visit. If you are not part of a group, and would like to join one, then contact Don on 0834129877 and don@prism-ic.co.za
Theme: “Using your talents!”
Warming Up:
Who was one of the most talented people you knew at school? What happened to that person? What talents were you known for at school?
Getting into the Word 1
Reading: Matthew 25:14-30
- How would you summarize Jesus’ primary message in that parable?
- What were the Master’s expectations of his servants while he was away?
- What happens to the two servants who doubled their investment? To the servant who hides his talent? On what basis were they rewarded?
- A Fun Activity: Make a chart with three columns labelled “Talents,” “Resources,” and “Experiences.” Then fill in that chart with the gifts God has given you. Start with your natural talents and abilities. Then write down the resources you have, financial and otherwise. And finish with the life experiences that you feel are most valuable.
- Groups: Encourage volunteers to point out some of the talents and gifts that are evident in the lives of others within the group. Guide the conversation as necessary to make sure this is a time of encouragement for everyone present.
Thought for the week ahead:
If Jesus were to return today, what would he say to you about how you have used what he gave to you? What are some obstacles that block or prevent you from investing your talents and resources in God’s kingdom? What steps can you take to address these issues?
God bless,
Tim.
