“Changed from Glory into Glory!”
Theme: “Changed from Glory into Glory!”
Reading: Luke 9:28-45
Warm up:
Have you ever attended an event, or a show, that was so “amazing”, so wonderful, that it left you feeling energised and inspired! What was it all about?
Questions for discussion:
- Make a list of your top 10 events of Jesus (not his top 10 sayings). What are they? Does the transfiguration feature on your list?
- Who did Jesus take up the mountain with him? Why do you think Jesus chose them? What were they going to do on the mountain (vs 28-29)?
- Why do you think Moses and Elijah were there (see verse 31)? Does the word “exodus” used here remind you of another event in the Old Testament? What does “exodus” mean?
- What did the disciples witness taking place on the mountain?
- What do you think it is like to be “in the presence of God”? Have you ever experienced such a moment? What happened?
- Why do you think Luke tells the story of the crisis in the need to heal the young boy, immediately after the mountain top experience?
- What does that “valley experience” mean for you in your faith? What does it mean for the ministry of your church?
Go…:
- Read 2 Corinthians 3:12 – 4:2 and as you meditate on it this week, think on whether or not you are you seeing the world in the way that God sees it. Or, are you seeing the world through a veil? What might need to change in your life this week to see things clearly?
Prayer. Share prayer requests and respond appropriately.
God bless you,
Tim
